Romjul

Dear You, Last year I seem to remember a lot of chat (mostly twitter based, I grant you) about this slightly odd period between Christmas and New Year having the Norwegian name of 'Romjul'.  I think it just means the between days but the connotations seemed to be one of cosy relaxation and are really rather appealing. This year, however, the chat (again, twitter) seems to be focused on this being the dead time of year where everyone is slightly lost and directionless with no idea what day it is or what to do.  The overwhelming feeling seems to be a longing for these boring, unstructured days to be over. As a kid I remember these days as a bit weird and boring.  I am now, however, firmly on the side of Romjul.   So come on people.  It's been a crap year out there in the big, wide world so let's embrace this tiny slice of quiet.  Hunker in, crack open the jigsaws, finish the Christmas chocolates, find a good book and just enjoy the peace.
